Crystal Carr (96), residing at Aurora Health & Rehab in Rolla, MO, went to her heavenly home on February 22, 2025. She was born in Indiana to Clifford and Donnetta “Sally” Robertson on December 15, 1928. She had an older sister, Wilma Hall (Bob), and a younger brother, Jim Robertson (Elaine). Battle Creek, Michigan was home.
On August 29, 1947, she married her sweetheart, Ralph “Bud” Carr, the man God clearly chose for her. They had two sons, Tom, and Randy. Tom later gave them two grandchildren, Anne Carr-Shank (Gavin), and Steve Carr (Trish). Steve and Trish gave her a great-grandson, Keaton.
Neither Bud nor Crystal was raised in a Christian home. A co-worker led Bud to receive Christ as Savior at the age of 28. Crystal, soon after also found Christ. This decision brought about great joy and dramatic change in both of their lives. Bud was very outspoken in his faith. They served as leaders at the Battle Creek Bible Church. They taught Sunday school and regularly served in nursing home visitation. Crystal helped with Child Evangelism. Bud served faithfully in the local jail ministry. In 1977, they chose early retirement so that they could serve in full-time ministry.
They became resident caretakers at the Bible Memory Association Camp in the beautiful woods of northern Michigan. After five years, lung cancer took Bud to be with the Lord at the age of 53. Crystal then resettled back in Battle Creek working as a part-time host at a funeral home, and serving in her church.
From 1995 to 2002, Crystal lived in Southern California near her younger son, Randy, and his wife, Lisa. In 2002, she moved to Rolla, Missouri with Randy and Lisa, as they were asked to help with a growing Christian homeschool curriculum company. Crystal found a home with Rolla Bible Church soon after the move. She was continually grateful to the Lord for the love, care, and good Bible teaching this church family gave her.
A memorial gathering will be held in Battle Creek, Michigan at a future date.
