It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Essie Mae (Walker) Haines, age 67, passed away on April 6, 2025 at Silverstone Place in Rolla, Mo. Essie was born in Winona, Mo on January 10, 1958. To Cleo and Hazel Walker. Essie was the youngest of seven children.
Essie was a devoted mother to Jerry Eugene Roark Jr, Robin Lynn Roark Burns, Jereme John Roark, Wendy Lea Roark Boslau, and Rachael Kathleen Cowen.
Essie enjoyed painting, camping, and hiking in the mountains. She went to nursing school in West Plains, Mo. She graduated and became a licensed practical nurse. Shortly after receiving her license, she moved to Wyoming. This is where she fell in love not once but twice. First with the Snowy Range Mountains, and second with the love of her life, her late husband Douglas Haines. Essie and Doug spent most of their time together travelling, especially in the mountains. Essie was always the fun mom, the fun sister, and the fun Aunt. She was known for her free spirit. A spirit that spoke her mind and was never afraid to stand her ground or speak her piece. A Spitfire for sure. Her sassiness made her a legend and was one of many reasons so many people loved her.
Essie was preceded in death by; her parents Cleo and Hazel Walker, her son Jerry Eugene Roark Jr, her daughter Robin Lynn Roark Burns, her husband Douglas Haines, her brother Hubert Walker, her niece Clarissa Faith (Washburn) Sampson, and her nephew Jeff Dixon.
Essie is survived by, her sister Ola (Danny) Norris, her brother Herbert Walker, her sister Bessie Flury, her sister Shirley Grimmett, her brother Ted (Joyce) Walker, her son Jereme Roark, her daughter Wendy (Jerimie) Boslau, her daughter Rachael Cowen, her grandchildren, De’Shea Schnell, Ryan Burns, Cole(Megan) Roark, Morgan(Tommy) Swyers, Rebecca(Mark) Grant, Brandon Williams, Hailey Boslau, Samual Boslau, Isabell Cowen and Michael Cowen. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all whom she loved deeply and who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
