Eva Michi Sheppard

Eva Michi Sheppard passed away peacefully in Dixon, Missouri on January 25, 2025. She was born in Tachikawa, Tokyo at the air force base located there. She was born to James Sheppard and Emiko Nozaki while James was deployed in Japan. After being relieved from active duty, James and Emiko relocated with their beloved daughter, Eva, to Warsaw, Missouri where Eva grew up, ultimately graduating from Warsaw High School in 1982.

After high school, Eva dipped her toes in a number of trades including being a photographer and also a Methodist Minister. She found her true passion, however, in working with children. Eva directed a day care in Warsaw for a number of years. Her last career was working with her biggest passion of all, special needs children, as a Teacher's Aide at the E.W. Thompson State School in Sedalia, Missouri.

Eva met a man by the name of Daniel Day at the military hospital who caught her eye. She eventually told him that if he didn't call her within two weeks she would find him. Daniel did call her within the two week deadline and they planned a date and were inseparable from that point forward. They married on February 15, 1985 in Knob Noster, Missouri and were eventually blessed with the birth of their two beloved sons, Devan and Darren.

Eva loved helping others and was a devout christian. She had a variety of passions. Her absolute favorite color was purple and she could often be found singing to anyone that would listen. It is no surprise then that one of her favorite pastimes was karaoke. Eva's singing will be greatly missed.

Eva is survived by her two sons, Devan (Briana) Day and Darren Day; her granddaughter, Everleigh Day; and her ex-husband, Daniel Day.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Sheppard; and her mother, Emiko Sheppard.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please check back for information.
