Galeon “Paul” Campbell, CWO-4 RET. Was born on 12 Nov. 1926, in Minton Township, Holt County, Missouri to parents, Curtis N. Campbell and Nellie Anne Campbell (nee Bigley).


Galeon passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the age of 95.

Paul, the youngest, had four brothers, infant Melvin, Willard, Owen and Raymond all now deceased. Those remaining are his wife, Irmgard Campbell (nee Broedel), a son, Wolfgang Campbell, a daughter Corinna Meadors and granddaughter, Shandley Ramaker.

Paul served in the Philippines in WW II, in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He earned the Bronze Star Medal as well as many awards, ribbons and campaign stars. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2025.

Paul was elected and installed to membership in Knights Cross Honor, Priory #17 which requires to have been the presiding officer over your Masonic Lodge, Chapter, Council and Commandery, proposed by a member, elected and installed. He was presented the honor of lodge medal when he was Master. He was given the Lewis and Clark Award. He was Rajah of the South-Central Shrine Club, Noble Grand of the Oddfellows and Exalted Ruler of the Elks and a Moose Member.

Paul had no church memberships but professed to being a Christian, which he defined as “One who believes in and abides by the teachings of Christ”.

He desired no funeral service or memorial but only to sleep in peace until awakened by the only one that can.

Private burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Waynesville.
