Gary Thomas Adams, age 72, of St. James, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 9, 2015, at the Silverstone Place in Rolla. Gary was born on December 10, 1942, in Corning, Arkansas a son to the late Carl Thomas and Thelma Christine (Jacobs) Adams. Gary served in the United States Army from December 9, 1965 until December 6, 1968. While Gary was in the Army he received his GED. On September 23, 1961, Gary was united in marriage to Bonnie Lou (Lipe) Adams, who survives at their home. Gary retired after working at Royal Oak Charcoal Company for 28 years as a Shift Supervisor. Gary was an avid fisherman but he also enjoyed hunting, cooking and working on cars. He always thought he could make anything work better and enjoyed that challenge but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Gary is survived by: his son, Bryan Adams and his wife Melissa of Rolla; daughter, Michelle Chick and her husband Dan of St. James; sister, Pat Moreland and her husband Paul of St. James; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Dunn, Angelica Holmes, Michael Adams, Gabriel Adams, Nathanial Adams, Wyatt Chick and Logan Chick; one great grandson, Kurtis Graydon along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Adams. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2015, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at James Memorial Public Library, 300 West Scioto in St. James, Mo.
