Gilbert Dale Steen

Gilbert “Dale” Steen, age 79, of St. James, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at his residence.

Dale was born September 11, 1942 in Rolla, a son to the late William Arthur and Alma (Nielsen) Steen.

He was a 1960 graduate of Rolla High School and following high school proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Dale was the owner and operator of Dale’s Used Cars for over 40 years and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Dale enjoyed being on pool and dart leagues and was an avid coin collector. He loved all things antique and especially cars and toys. Most of all, Dale loved spending time with family and friends.

Dale is survived by: three sons, William ‘Bill” Steen and his partner Barb Copeland of Wichita, KS, Mark Steen and his wife Lynette of St. James, and Michael “Eric” Steen and his wife Lorie of Edgar Springs; one daughter, Christina Markley of St, James; five grandchildren, Savannah, Chelsie, Bray, Christopher, and Allie; two great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Connor; and two sisters, Eva Lee Studley and Karen Happel, both of Salem as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Karrah.

A celebration of Dales life will be held on May 11, 20222 at the St. James V.F.W. hall from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
