Jackie (Thoene) Loyd, 93, of Devils Elbow, MO left this earth October 25, 2024, to begin her eternal life in Heaven with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. She passed quickly and quietly from acute cardiac arrest at Phelps Co. Regional Hospital (Rolla, MO), consoled in the arms of her loyal husband, Duane Guengerich.
Jackie was born October 21, 1931, in St. Louis, MO, cherished daughter of the late Henry and Loretta (Moeller) Thoene. In addition to her loving parents, she was preceded in death by beloved brother Dale Thoene and sister-in-law, Patsy Thoene of MO, and two loving daughters, Theresa (Galam)Loyd of CA, and Judith Isler of FL. She is survived by husband Duane Guengerich of Devils Elbow, MO, 3 loving daughters Sandy Merrill (Scott) of VA, Stephanie Temple (Greg) of TX, and Crystal Guengerich (Renee) of MD, 11 treasured grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition, 2 dear nephews, Mick Thoene (Nancy) and Steve Thoene (Judy Eggars).
After a wonderful childhood, Jackie spent her early years loving and humbly nurturing her 4 beautiful daughters as a single mother. Later, in her middle years, along with husband, Duane, raised a 5th wonderful daughter, who all proudly represented her in prosperous and successful lives.
During her working career, she embellished the lives of many families as a private caretaker, and later on earned her college degree which served her well as a mental health counselor at the forensic unit of the AZ State Hospital (Phoenix, AZ) for many years before retirement.
In her retirement years, she with husband Duane returned to MO and lovingly cared for her aging mother, Loretta. During this long span of her life (35+ years), she enjoyed raising a wonderful garden and preserving a bountiful harvest. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed all the beautiful resources of the Big Piney River region. During the day, she volunteered her time to the Waynesville Senior Center and Good Samaritan Food Bank and was a frequent patron of the Waynesville Library. In her evening hours, she kept her hands busy with crafty handwork, which she joyously gave to family and friends. To all those many lucky people who received the gift of one of Jackie’s unique crocheted plastic bag rugs, we would encourage you to continue to walk on them and share each cushy step with Jackie on the clouds of Heaven.
Jackie practiced her whole life, becoming the perfect angel, she is today. God Bless each and every one who knew and cherished the magical life of Jackie Loyd Guengerich.
Her life was her Memorial, and she will have a private family burial. No public services are planned.
