Jim R. Hopkins, age 66 of Rolla, passed away, Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Victorian Place of Cuba. Jim was born July 16, 1949, in Arab, Alabama. His parents, Gradie "Pa" and Hettie "Ma" Holloway preceded him in death. Jim served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, obtaining the rank of SP5. After the military Jim was an over the road truck driver for several years. Jim enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing, St Louis Blues hockey and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. However, his greatest joy came from the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Jim is survived by: one daughter, Misty Gilbert of Rolla; three sons, Shawn Hopkins of Atlantic, Iowa, Jason Jones of St James and Joshua Hopkins of Eldon; one sister, Sara Yates of Sullivan; one brother John Wilkie of Mebane, North Carolina; 9 grandchildren, Britney, Jason, Olivia, Autumn, Jordan, Casey, McKenzie, Hunter and Christopher as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Hopkins and Tony Blue and one sister, Sue O'Neal. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Veterans Memorial Park in Rolla. Military Honors will be conducted at 5:30 p.m.
