James William Ross

  James "Sonny" William Ross, age 74, of Rolla, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016, at his residence. Sonny was born on February 8, 1942, in Sikeston, Missouri, a son to the late Claude and Minnie (Lay) Ross. Sonny attended school in Sikeston, Missouri. On October 18, 1961, Sonny was united in marriage to Judith Daniels in Benton, Missouri.  She      survives of the home. Sonny was a member of the Church of Yahsuha in Rolla.  He enjoyed playing music and loved it when his family would sing and play with him.  His greatest joy was his family. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Sonny is survived by: three sons, Jim Ross, Jeff Ross, and Joe Ross all of Rolla; six grandchildren, Emily, Amy, Stephanie, Mackenzie, Rebekka, and Wyatt; two brother, Paul Ross and his wife Joan and Jack Ross and his wife Sonja both of Rolla; four sisters, Ruby Worth, Wilma Ferguson, Claudia Little and Betty Duncan all of Rolla, along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by: one son, David Ross; a granddaughter, Megan Ross; and two sisters, Mary Harris and Dean Little. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church located at 750 S. Rolla Street, in the Parish Hall.
