June Elizabeth Soper, 94, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in Rolla, Mo.
She was born on July 9, 1930, to the late Mr. William G. Bone Jr. and Mrs. Reda L. (Lang) Bone of Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania.
While writing one of her brothers serving in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, she became acquainted with the future love of her life. After a brief courtship, she was united in marriage to Mr. Roy Soper on June 9, 1945. To this union three children were born Roy, Donald, and Joy.
June was an amazing grandmother who taught her granddaughters the value of hard work and the true meaning of a family. She learned many life lessons during the Great Depression and World War II.
Roy and June spent many years near the Gasconade River in Jerome, Mo. Fishing, gardening, visiting with family and friends, and playing pinochle were everyday events when you went to see them. On August 29, 1985 she was checking a trot line and caught one 25 lbs. catfish, a 14 lbs. blue catfish, and another one that weighed 8 lbs! She never ceased to amaze us.
Mrs. Soper was preceded in death by her parents, William and Reda Bone; her husband of 68 years, Roy; sons, Roy Jr. and Donald; siblings, Carl, Bernard, Glenwood, Richard, William Jr., Violet, and Barbara.
