It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Wayne Tune of Rolla, MO,
announces his passing from this life on June 15th, 2023, at the age of 86. After a long
battle with cancer, Kenneth passed in the comfort of his home, under the care of his
loving wife and the support of hospice services.
Kenneth was born July 21, 1936, to parents Floyd Tune and Johanna (Franz) Tune. He
was preceded in death by his parents, sister Donna Sue (Tune) Larson, and daughter
Teresa (Tune) Hentzel.
Kenneth will be lovingly missed by his wife Barbara Tune, his youngest brother Butch
Tune, his two sons Terry and Gary Tune, and numerous grandchildren and great
grandchildren.
Growing up he enjoyed working on his family’s farm, playing football, and running track
at Rolla High School. He graduated from Rolla High School, Class of 1954. After
graduation, he realized that his job as a pump boy was just the beginning of his life
long career in the automotive industry. Kenneth and his father opened Tune’s Service
Station in 1955; Kenneth took over the family business when his father retired. He was
one of the first certified front end alignment specialists in Rolla. Many people would say
he was one of the best. Tune’s Service and Equipment remains in the family, after his
passing as a third-generation family business.
Kenneth married his wife of 67 years on June 23, 1956. They were united in marriage
at the First Baptist Church of Rolla. Three children were born to their union Terry,
Gary, and Teresa. They all enjoyed living together on a farm south of Rolla.
Kenneth was well known in the Rolla community and always knew how to make others
smile. He was a hardworking husband, loving father, and patient grandfather. He lived
a good life and will be dearly missed. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy will
live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family will pay their respects with a private service at the deceased home. Cremation Services are under the direction of Rolla Cremation Memorial.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Phelps Health Hospice. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Phelps Health Hospice for their exceptional care.
