Leo "L.D. Daniel Cook

Leo Daniel (L.D.) Cook, age 78 of Newburg, went to his eternal rest on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in Rolla.

Leo or L.D., as he was called by everyone who knew him, was born April 8, 1944, in Newburg to the late Lewis L. and Margaret B. (Malone) Cook of Newburg.

In addition to his parents, L.D. was also preceded in death by his wife Sheryl.

L.D. graduated from Newburg High School, class of 1962. He spent most of his life as a trucker and co-owner of Cook and Son Trucking Company, until he became ill.

He loved attending stock car and drag races, working on and polishing his classic MOPAR cars and watching NASCAR races. He never met a stranger and loved visiting with everyone.

He is survived by three children: Todd (Anna) Cook, San Antonio, TX, David (Kim) Cook, Wimberly, TX and Christina (David) Hansford, San Antonio, TX; his seven grandchildren: Adam and Jadalyn Cook, San Antonio, TX, Sharon Cook, Hutto, TX, David and Kellie Cook, Wimberly, TX, Nathan Magnus and Christopher Hansford, San Antonio, TX; his sister, Margie Daniels, Newburg; a special friend, Darlene Grosvenor, Waynesville and many nieces, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. He is also survived by his special companion dogs; Kacie, Teddy, and Sport, who were so comforting to him in his times of need.

L.D. Will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Graveside Services will be held at a later date.
