Mirek Bolesław (Mark Henry) Iwanski was born on February 9, 1956 in Dalnia, Poland. Mirek accompanied his older brother, Roman, to America on April 23, 1959. The boys were adopted by an aunt and uncle, Julius and Mary (Potzreba) Iwanski and spent their childhoods in Valley County, and later in Ord, Nebraska.
Mirek graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Ord, Nebraska. Mirek worked at various construction jobs in Ord before becoming disabled. After becoming unable to work, Mirek enjoyed fishing and searching thrift stores for antiques and treasures. He moved to the Salem, Missouri area in 2017, to be nearer to his brother, Roman.
Mirek is preceded in death by his mother, Aleksandra Iwanska of Dalnia, Poland, his father, Bolesław Iwanski of Radzanowa, Poland, his brother Eugeniusz Iwanski of Wolomin, Poland, His uncle, Julius Iwanski of Ord, Nebraska, and his aunt, Mary Iwanski of Ord, Nebraska and his godmother, Barbara Grablewska of Dalnia, Poland. Survivors include his brother, Roman (Kathy) Iwanski of Salem, Missouri, nieces Mary Iwanski of Dallas, Texas, Becky Hall of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Emily Ashlock of Leland, North Carolina, five great nieces and nephews, Oliver Hall, Łukasz Hall, Tristan Ashlock, Sophia Ashlock, and Chloe Ashlock. His cousin, Mirosława (Stanisław) Wasinski of London, Ontario, Canada, cousin Marlene (Rick) Ochman of Swickley, Pennsylvania, Janusz Mikucinski of Mława, Poland, Ania (Jan) Pawlowska, of Mława, Poland, Jadzia (Wlodek) Grablewska, of Dalnia, Poland and a large extended family throughout Poland.
Per his wishes, Mirek will be cremated and laid to rest alongside his mother in Dalnia, Poland.
