Martha Carol Pogue

Martha Carol Pogue, age 77, of Rolla, MO passed away on Sunday September 15, 2024.

Martha was born on September 15, 1947, to the late Vernon K and Lavilla Timacus (Gallion) Shaffer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Steven K Shaffer, one special aunt, Solovah Taylor and former husband, Robert Pogue; former in laws (whom she remained close with) Calvin and Rosella (Nash) Pogue, Judy (Pogue) Brown, Jerry, Pogue, Kenny Pogue, and Rick Peters.

Martha grew up in Flat, MO and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She often shared many stories and fond memories about her siblings, Kathleen and Steven K and her cousins Ruthie and Norma Jean. Martha was a proud graduate of Newburg High School, Class of 1964. She enjoyed visiting with her Newburg classmates and always looked forward to Newburg Days. Martha worked at K-Mart, Powell’s Lumber Company and Town & Country Bank. During her employment, Martha made life-long friends and attended monthly dinners with her “K-Mart Ladies” and “Powell’s Group”. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church and loved leading Bible Study. She always looked forward to seeing “the girls” on Thursdays. She was also a Senior Companion and cherished the time she spent with those she cared for. Most of all she enjoyed being home, rocking on the porch, and being with her family. She especially looked forward to her Sunday visits with her sister Kathleen and family.

Martha will be dearly missed by her surviving family consisting of one sister, Kathleen Williams and husband Doug; two sons, James Pogue and wife Michelle; Travis Pogue and wife Jessica; one daughter Mandy (Pogue) Crouch and husband Ray Crouch; eight grandchildren Landon Pogue and wife Erica, Kaylea Pogue, Chantelle Pogue, Noah Crouch, Ethan Crouch, Nash Crouch, Daytona Pogue and Lexington Pogue; four great-grandchildren Lenna Hitch, Bentley Grayson, Dayton Pogue and Carter Pogue. She is also survived by former in-laws Oma Lee & Dennis Reese, Sharon Peters, Beverly Pogue, Vicki and Randy Parsons as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 14975 State Rt HH, Rolla, MO.  

Lunch will follow the services.
