Marvin Lee Salts, age 75 of Rolla, passed away Tuesday January 10, 2017, at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center after suffering from pneumonia and heart failure. Marvin was born on August 8, 1941, in Rolla, a son to the late Raymond C. Salts and Clara M. Brown Salts of Rolla, Missouri. On October 19, 1973, he was united in marriage to Iris J. Shanks in Belle. Marvin is survived by: a daughter, Jennifer Smith and her husband Jason of Rolla; a son, Jarrad Salts and his wife Karen of Rolla; two grandchildren, Cameron Smith and Savannah Salts; sisters Hazel Akley, Dorothy Johnson and Ruth Gatten, and brother Clarence Salts, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marvin was predeceased by wife of 43 years, Iris Salts, granddaughter Madelynn Salts, and brothers Roy Salts, Robert Salts, Herbert Salts, Ray Salts, and Donald; and sisters Alice Salts, and Clara Lorraine Salts Marvin enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours working in his garden. He took great pride in providing vegetables to all his family, friends and neighbors. When Marvin wasn't in the garden he enjoyed playing a guitar, banjo or fiddle, often times at family gatherings. In later years he and Iris spent many hours watching their favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. A private family memorial service will occur at a future date with internment following at the Macedonia Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Rolla Lions Foundation PO Box 244 Rolla, MO 65402.
