William R. Steward, Jr. “Stretch” age 56 of Freeburg, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at his home.
William was born November 26, 1965, in Kansas City, a son to the late William R. Steward, Sr. and Anna Marie (Johnson) Steward who survives of Dixon.
He was a 1983 graduate of Dixon High School.
After graduation, Stretch went to work for Quaker Windows in Freeburg and worked there until October of 2000, at which time he took a position at Playmor Trailer in Westphalia, where he worked for the past 22 years. He was a dedicated employee and a very hard working man. He had a generous heart and was always willing to help anyone.
Stretch’s passion was his music, and he had a grand collection of guitars. He also enjoyed playing and listening to music. He loved the time spent with his family and friends. His fur babies Jack and Jill brought much joy and happiness to his life and when he talked of them his smile would literally warm up a room.
William was preceded in death by his father who passed away on April 20, 2004, and his brother Sam who passed away on November 26, 2021.
He is survived by his loving mother, Anna Marie Steward of Dixon; four sisters, Glenda Mutrux of Glenwood, IA, Rhonda Shay of Grandview, MO, Vicki Gertz of Dixon, MO, and Donna Yarbro; he had many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews as well as his close friends, Joseph Jaegers, Bobby Jaegers, Paul Stratman and Larry Heimericks.
A Celebration of Stretch's life along with a BBQ/Potluck will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Freeburg City Park Pavilion. All friends and family are invited to attend.
